Dr. Folz was born in Jefferson City at St. Mary's Hospital. She was raised in Taos, Missouri with her six older siblings. She knew she wanted to be a pediatrician from the age of ten. She attended Blair Oaks High School, Rockhurst College, and the University of Oklahoma for medical school. She completed her internship at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City and residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. Folz met and married her college sweetheart, Dr. Tom Folz and they completed medical school together. Together they have four adult children and two granddogs.

Dr. Folz returned to central Missouri 23 years ago due to the encouragement of her mother. She started JCMG Pediatrics and grew the department during her time there. She is excited to be opening JC Peds with Dr. Emslander where they will deliver state-of-the-art, evidence-based medicine in a compassionate and caring environment.

Dr. Emslander was born and raised in Rochester Minnesota. There she grew up in a bilingual home speaking German with her immigrant parents. She lived in the shadow of the Mayo Clinic where she worked as a college student and returned later as a medical student. Working with the staff at Mayo continued the love for medicine that was started by her parents who were both doctors. After graduating from Lourdes high school, Dr. Emslander spent a year in Mexico as a Rotary exchange student where she learned Spanish. Then she went to California and attended Stanford University. She returned to Rochester and the midwest to attended Mayo Medical school. She always knew she wanted to go into medicine but was not sure if it would involve humans or animals. After graduating from medical school she completed her internship and residency at the University of Minnesota followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at St Paul Children’s Hospital in St Paul, Minnesota.

After completing her fellowship in 1995 Dr. Emslander and her husband moved to Houston Texas, then to Eugene Oregon, and finally landed in Jefferson City in 1999. There she joined Dr. Folz at JCMG Pediatrics and helped her grow the department. Now she is looking forward to starting JC Peds to provide children and their parents a medical home. 

During college, Dr. Emslander pursued a love for rowing. This lead to participation in the national championships and later a gold medal in the pan Am Games. On the racecourse, she met her husband Dr. Michael Ryan. After rowing for rival teams they ultimately married and raised 4 children surrounded by animals and plants. In her free time, Dr. Emslander enjoys playing with her dogs and cats, gardening, photography, and travel.

Dr. Hagely was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended college at Washington University in St. Louis and then went to the University of Toledo College of Medicine for medical school. He completed his pediatric residency at the University of Missouri. He has lived in Jefferson City for over 10 years. He has worked in the area for over 10 years and is excited to join JC Peds and provide care to all of his friends and neighbors. He has been married to his wife Katy for over 15 years. They love being able to raise their 3 kids in Jefferson City along with all of their pets. They enjoy camping and have a goal of camping at each of Missouri's state parks. He also enjoys being able to watch his kids participate in their favorite activities (soccer, swimming, ukulele, hiking, biking).
